Digital Marketing, SEO, GEO & AEO

FAQs

Marketing has gotten a little complicated. Between SEO, AI Search, Google updates, social media, websites, ads, GEO, AEO and approximately 47 new marketing acronyms every Tuesday, it’s easy to wonder what your business actually needs.

We’re here to make it simpler.

Below are some of the questions we hear most often from business owners about getting found online, turning visibility into leads, and choosing the right marketing strategy. And if you don’t see your question here, ask us. We’re happy to help you make sense of it.

WE HAVE GREAT ANSWERS

Choosing a Marketing Partner

If you’re spending time and money on marketing but aren’t sure what’s actually working, that’s usually a good place to start.

You may benefit from a marketing partner if your website isn’t generating the leads you expect, your messaging feels unclear, your SEO has stalled, your social media has become inconsistent, or you’re simply tired of trying to keep up with everything yourself.

At Teal Marketing, we start with strategy rather than immediately throwing tactics at the problem. Our TEAL Method™ begins by understanding your audience, your message and what’s preventing people from taking action.

We’re not interested in being another vendor you have to manage.

Our approach combines storytelling, buyer psychology, strategy, website development, SEO, GEO, AEO and digital marketing so the pieces work together rather than living in separate silos.

We also believe marketing should still sound like a human being wrote it.

Our goal isn’t simply to get you more traffic or followers. It’s to help the right people find you, understand you, trust you and ultimately choose you.

Not necessarily.

Sometimes you don’t need someone to take over your entire marketing department. You may need a better website, a stronger SEO strategy, better social media management or help figuring out why your current marketing isn’t converting.

That’s why Teal offers both larger strategic engagements and individual services. We can strengthen the part of your marketing that needs attention without automatically rebuilding everything else.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer because the right investment depends on your goals, competitive market, existing digital foundation and how much work needs to be done.

A good marketing strategy should begin with what you’re trying to accomplish, not an arbitrary list of deliverables.

We can help you determine where your marketing dollars are likely to have the greatest impact before recommending a path forward.

SEO

Think of Google as a matchmaker.

SEO helps Google understand what your business does, who you serve and when your website is the right answer to someone’s search.

Good SEO isn’t about stuffing a page with keywords. It’s about creating a website that is technically sound, useful, trustworthy and aligned with what your ideal customers are actually looking for.

No. SEO is changing.

Traditional SEO still matters, but search has expanded beyond the familiar list of blue links.

Today, businesses also need to think about AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, voice search, local search and other conversational experiences.

We think of modern search as an ecosystem rather than a single search box.

SEO is a long-term strategy, not an overnight switch.

Some technical and on-page improvements can produce relatively quick wins, while building authority, earning rankings and generating consistent organic traffic generally takes longer.

The timeline depends heavily on your industry, competition, website, current authority and the search terms you’re targeting.

Anyone promising guaranteed #1 rankings on a specific timeline should make you a little suspicious.

Yes, but traffic isn’t the same thing as leads.

That’s why we look beyond rankings and clicks.

A successful SEO strategy should attract people who are actually searching for the products or services you provide and then give them a clear reason to take the next step.

In other words:

Get found → earn the click → build trust → make it easy to contact you.

The best keywords aren’t necessarily the ones with the highest search volume.

We look at search intent.

Someone searching “what is SEO?” is in a very different stage of the buying journey than someone searching “SEO agency for small business in Atlanta.”

The second search may have far less volume, but significantly more commercial value.

AI Search, GEO, & AEO

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization.

It’s the practice of improving your brand’s visibility within AI-powered search and generative experiences.

Instead of only asking:

“How do I rank on Google?”

we’re also asking:

“How do I make sure AI understands my business well enough to include it when someone asks for a recommendation?”

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization.

AEO focuses on creating and structuring content so search engines and AI systems can easily identify clear answers to questions.

That can include:

  • FAQs
  • definitions
  • concise answers
  • structured content
  • comparison information
  • expert explanations
  • conversational search content

Think of them as overlapping pieces of the same puzzle.

SEO: Helps people find you through search.

AEO: Helps search engines understand and surface your answers.

GEO: Helps your brand become more visible within generative AI experiences.

You don’t necessarily need three completely separate strategies.

You need a modern search strategy that considers all three.

There isn’t a button you can press that says “Put My Business in ChatGPT.”

AI systems use information from many sources to understand businesses, topics and entities.

That means your website needs clear information about:

  • Who you are
  • What you do
  • Who you serve
  • Where you operate
  • What makes you different
  • Your expertise
  • Your services
  • Your reputation

It also helps to have consistent, credible information about your business across the broader web.

The goal isn’t to “trick AI.”

It’s to make your business easier for AI to understand and trust.

No.

And we wouldn’t tell you otherwise.

AI search results can change based on the question, user, location, source information and the AI system being used.

What we can do is build the SEO, content, authority and digital signals that give your business the strongest possible foundation for visibility.

Not automatically.

The bigger issue is whether the content is useful, original, accurate and genuinely helpful.

AI can be an incredibly useful tool. But publishing hundreds of generic articles simply because AI can produce them isn’t a strategy.

We believe the strongest content combines technology with human expertise, experience, personality and perspective.

That philosophy is central to Teal’s own approach to modern marketing.

Website Design & Conversion

Absolutely.

Your website is the foundation that everything else sends people toward.

A beautiful website that can’t be found isn’t particularly helpful.

And a website that gets traffic but doesn’t explain what you do or make it easy to contact you isn’t doing its job either.

That’s why Teal considers SEO, user experience, messaging and conversion during website strategy rather than treating them as completely separate projects.

Not necessarily.

Sometimes a website needs a complete redesign.

Sometimes it needs better messaging, stronger SEO, improved calls-to-action, new landing pages or technical cleanup.

We’ll look at what’s actually holding the site back before recommending that you spend money rebuilding something that may not need to be rebuilt.

There isn’t one magic ingredient.

A high-performing website generally needs to do several things well:

  • Tell people what you do.
  • Make it clear who you’re for.
  • Build trust.
  • Answer their questions.
  • Show why you’re different.
  • Make the next step obvious.
  • Work beautifully on mobile.

The website’s job isn’t simply to look good.

It’s to help someone feel confident enough to take the next step.

Social Media

Not necessarily.

But social media can support your broader digital presence by building familiarity, trust and brand recognition.

We don’t believe businesses should post simply because someone said they need to “post three times a week.”

The content should have a purpose.

There’s no universal magic number.

Consistency matters more than posting constantly.

We’d rather help you create a manageable content strategy that people actually want to engage with than fill your feed with content nobody cares about.

Indirectly, yes.

Social activity isn’t a simple “post more and Google will rank you higher” equation.

But social media can increase brand awareness, content distribution, engagement, referral traffic and opportunities for people to discover and mention your business elsewhere.

Social media should do more than keep your feed from looking abandoned. When it’s done strategically, it can help build brand awareness, trust, relationships, and credibility while keeping your business top of mind with the people you want to reach.

We focus on creating content that has a purpose, whether that’s educating your audience, showcasing your expertise, highlighting your work, starting conversations, or driving people back to your website.

The goal isn’t to post more. It’s to post with a reason.

Local SEO

Local visibility involves much more than adding your address to your website.

Your strategy can include:

  • Google Business Profile optimization
  • Accurate business information
  • Reviews
  • Local content
  • Location relevance
  • Website optimization
  • Citations
  • Links and mentions from relevant websites
  • Consistent business information across the web

Yes. For businesses serving a specific geographic market, your Google Business Profile is an important part of your local digital presence.

But simply claiming the profile isn’t enough.

It should be complete, accurate, active and supported by a strong website and broader local authority.

Very.

Reviews help potential customers understand what it’s like to work with you, and they contribute to your broader reputation and local presence.

But we don’t recommend trying to manufacture reviews.

The best review strategy is to create an experience people genuinely want to talk about, then make it easy for happy customers to share their experience.

Local SEO helps your business show up when people in your area are actively searching for the products or services you offer. We look beyond your website and consider your Google Business Profile, local search visibility, reviews, website content, business listings, location signals, and overall online presence.

The goal isn’t simply to rank for “[service] near me.” It’s to help your business become a trusted local option when someone is ready to make a decision.

In short: we want to make sure that when your next customer searches for what you do, Google knows you’re there, understands what you offer, and has plenty of reasons to recommend you.

Working with Teal Marketing

We’ll start with a clarity call to learn more about your business, what’s currently working, what’s frustrating you and what you’re trying to accomplish.

From there, we’ll help identify where your biggest opportunities are and recommend the appropriate next step.

Sometimes that’s a larger project.

Sometimes it’s a smaller fix.

And sometimes we’ll tell you that something isn’t necessary yet.

Yes, although we are particularly interested in working with established businesses that are ready to grow strategically.

Our current positioning is intentionally focused on businesses that have an established offer, are generating revenue and are ready to move beyond guessing at their marketing.

Yes.

Teal offers ongoing support as well as project-based services, depending on what a business actually needs. Our services currently include brand strategy and messaging, SEO, GEO, website design, social media and other growth-focused marketing support.

Absolutely.

Not every business needs the same combination of services.

We can help determine whether you need a comprehensive marketing strategy or simply need to strengthen one particular part of your digital presence.

We’re probably a good fit if you’re looking for a strategic partner, not simply someone to execute a checklist.

You want someone who will ask:

Why aren’t people taking action?

not just:

How many posts should we publish this month?

Our approach combines strategy, storytelling, buyer psychology and execution through the TEAL Method™.

Questions We Wish More Business Owners Asked

Success looks different for every business. For us, it starts with understanding what you actually want your marketing to accomplish.

That might mean generating more qualified leads, increasing website inquiries, improving search visibility, reaching a new audience, strengthening your brand, or ultimately increasing revenue.

We don’t believe success should be measured by vanity metrics alone. More followers, website traffic, or clicks are great, but if they’re not helping move your business forward, they’re not the whole story.

Our goal is to connect your marketing activity to meaningful business outcomes.

Traffic is only valuable if it brings the right people to your website.

We look at where your visitors are coming from, what they’re searching for, which pages they’re engaging with, and most importantly, whether they’re taking the next step.

Depending on your business, that might mean tracking contact form submissions, phone calls, consultation requests, purchases, bookings, or other meaningful conversions.

We want to know more than “How many people visited?”

We want to know “Did the right people find you, and did they take action?”

This is a really important question, and one we wish more business owners asked before signing with an agency.

You should have ownership of your digital assets.

Your website, domain, Google Business Profile, advertising accounts, analytics, social media accounts, and other important business assets shouldn’t be held hostage by your marketing company.

We believe in transparency and building long-term relationships based on trust. We’re here to manage, improve, and support your digital presence, not make it difficult for you to access your own business.

We don’t view SEO as simply adding keywords to a website and hoping Google notices.

Our approach starts with understanding your business, your customers, your competition, and what people are actually searching for.

From there, we look at the bigger picture, including website structure, technical SEO, content, search intent, local visibility, authority, user experience, and conversions.

And SEO doesn’t exist in a vacuum anymore. Search is changing rapidly, which means a modern strategy needs to account for traditional search as well as AI-powered search experiences.

The goal isn’t simply to rank.

It’s to be found by the right people when they’re looking for what you offer.

Absolutely. And we prefer it that way.

You shouldn’t need a marketing degree to understand what your agency is doing with your money.

We’ll explain what we’re recommending, why we’re recommending it, and what we’re hoping it will accomplish.

Yes, we’ll occasionally have to use terms like SEO, GEO, AEO, CTR, and all the other alphabet soup that comes with digital marketing. But we’ll explain what they actually mean and, more importantly, why they matter to your business.

Our job isn’t to make marketing sound complicated.

Our job is to make it work and make sure you understand what we’re doing along the way.

AI has changed the way people discover information, and we’re paying very close attention.

We’re incorporating GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) into our broader search strategy, along with traditional SEO.

That means thinking about how search engines and AI systems understand your business, how they interpret your expertise, what questions your customers are asking, and whether your content provides clear, useful answers.

We’re also careful not to chase every new AI trend just because it’s new.

The technology is moving incredibly fast, so we focus on strategies that make sense for your business and are supported by what we’re actually seeing in search.

This is where strategy comes before tactics.

Before we start throwing content, ads, or keywords at a problem, we want to understand who we’re talking to and why they should care.

We look at your ideal customers, their questions, concerns, motivations, buying behavior, and the language they use when searching for solutions.

We also want to understand your perspective. You know your customers in ways data can’t always capture.

The best marketing happens when we combine your real-world knowledge of your customers with our marketing, SEO, and digital expertise.

Then we change it.

Marketing isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it exercise. If something isn’t producing the results we’re looking for, we want to know why and make adjustments.

Sometimes that means changing the messaging. Sometimes it’s the targeting, keywords, content, website experience, offer, or channel itself.

We’re not interested in continuing something simply because it’s what we originally planned.

The strategy should be flexible enough to respond to what the data and your customers are telling us.

We believe communication should be frequent enough to keep everyone on the same page without creating unnecessary meetings.

Depending on the project and level of service, that may include regular email communication, scheduled meetings, content approvals, reporting, and strategy reviews.

We also recognize that every client is different. Some businesses want to be deeply involved, while others would rather hand things over and let us run with them.

We’ll work with you to find the communication rhythm that makes sense for your team.

You should never have to wonder what you’re paying for.

Before we begin, we’ll clearly outline what’s included in your agreement, what we’re responsible for, and what may fall outside the scope of the monthly service.

Depending on your package, services may include strategy, SEO, content development, website updates, social media, reporting, account management, or other agreed-upon marketing support.

If something falls outside the scope of your agreement, we’ll let you know before doing the work.

No mystery invoices. No “surprise, that wasn’t included” moments.

Still Have Questions?

You shouldn’t have to figure out your marketing alone.

Whether you’re trying to improve your SEO, show up in AI Search, rebuild your website, strengthen your brand or simply figure out what’s not working, we’re happy to talk it through.

No hard sell. No marketing jargon. Just a conversation about where you are and where you want to go.
